Our Approach
Our primary aim is to create a home-from-home, fun and calm nurturing ambience. Montessori furniture is echoed throughout the nursery and materials are natural where possible. Toys and resources are made freely accessible to children to increase their independence in navigating themselves within the setting. This contributes towards an increase in self-autonomy and confidence and enables children to have an increased sense of belonging.
Curriculum
We adhere to the EYFS Curriculum, which is the requirement of all establishments that look after children aged 0-5 years. Our approach is a holistic one, that has a deep rooted appreciation that every child is unique, and has different learning styles.
The Montessori Philosophy is child-centred approach that fosters the idea that children are inherently curious learners with the ability to guide their own learning at their own pace. We take from this idea to create the perfect balance between child-led and adult-led learning. You will find little nods to the Montessori philosophy throughout the nursery, but we also have an appreciation for other philosophies of learning and good practise and amalgamate them to appeal to each child’s learning style.
We have additional activities to enhance our children’s skills, knowledge and understanding of the world around them, giving them an exceptional start in life’s journey. Some of these extracurricular activities include daily French sessions with Ton Ton the French speaking tortoise, fortnightly football with Freddie from LA Ballers, weekly Violin lessons and food prep and cooking sessions, where children prepare their own healthy snacks.
Learning is enhanced through carefully planned outings which are complimentary of the children’s current learning topics. This might include trips to the local nursing home, pond area, allotments and walks around the local area. We also invite professionals and parents who are able to share with the children their various areas of expertise.
